Thoughts After Playing with V0

I spent the holiday weekend playing with V0 and Bolt. I may try to get into Cursor too.

It is hard not to be impressed by these agents. While I am sure one can make arguments about code quality, security, etc., they still enable a coding novice like myself to build functional web app prototypes just through prompting and conversation. It feels as if any shortcomings are eminently solvable.

A few implications came to mind:

  1. The pace of creation for new digital products will be faster than ever.
  2. The venture asset class will continue its structural change. “Capital on the edge” via Venture Studios feels like as strong a model as ever for pre-seed…even if more people can/will do it.
  3. As development becomes commoditized, distribution becomes even more important.
  4. As there is more demand for distribution, winners will find a way to create moats once they achieve it — perhaps through proprietary data, network effects, marketplace effects, etc.
  5. It’s clear that agents are already eating into entry-level, white-collar jobs. And will continue to make more advanced jobs over time. Just see what Nvidia is doing for nursing.

Also, a few questions come to mind:

  1. Where will value accrue as more agents come to market?
  2. How will agents interface and conduct business with one another?
  3. What types of new standards and protocols will come about?
